UXO Watch and brief
Our UXO Specialist's will work closely with Excavator Operators to help support and monitor excavations on site. Our UXO Specialist's are certified to respond to any suspected items of UXO and can identify the potential risks and implement control measures should UXO be unearthed.
How does a UXO Watch and Brief work?
If you need to carry out excavation works on a project that may be at risk of buried UXO, then a UXO Watch and Brief is the perfect solution. Our UXO Specialist's have thousands of hours of experience overseeing hundreds of projects across the UK and overseas.
Our UXO Specialist will attend site and deliver a UXO Awareness Briefing to all site attendees. This will include ordnance recognition, what types of ordnance to look out for, what actions to take if UXO is encountered, safety precautions and emergency procedures. This creates awareness of the possible risks and also outlines what actions to take should the UXO Specialist stop works due to a suspected find.
Our UXO Specialist will then brief the excavator operator seperately to discuss what methods to use, what to look out for, what to feel for, what sounds to listen out for and what actions to take should the operator or the UXO Specialist observe an item that requires further investigation.
Our UXO Specialist will remain with the operator observing the excavation, particularly the area behind the bucket (if it is safe to do so) as this is the area which is not visible to the excavator operator. Our UXO Specialist will remain in support of all excavation works and will be in a constant state of readiness to react to any potential items of UXO.
Our UXO Specialist's are equipped with magnetometers and detection equipment for all search and clear operations, which may be required for some excavation projects.
